Jose Umana – Owner and Certified Administrator

Jose Umana

As the owner and certified administrator of Premiere Cottages, my passion for caring for the elderly started long ago. During most of my childhood, I was raised by my grandparents. I was deemed the ‘family caretaker’. I helped my mother with care and assistance for my grandfather. I took him to his doctor visits, managed medication, helped him with showering and personal care needs. These experiences in my life led me to believe I found my true calling by providing quality care for loved ones.

After managing a home healthcare company for over 8 years and as an expertise in hiring and development of caregivers, I understood the growing need for seniors to have more affordable care in a comfortable, home-like setting. Throughout the years, I have seen seniors getting lost in the numbers of larger facilities.

I had visited many care homes facilities during my career and felt our seniors deserved a better family and home-like environment. I knew I could make a difference. It wasn’t just a job, but my calling and passion to provide the highest quality care for seniors. In 2012 I became a certified administrator by the State of California to manage and operate an RCFE.

In 2014, I opened Premiere Cottages, Inc. a corporation that now owns and operates 4 Six Bed Senior Care Homes in the Long Beach California, Premiere Cottages offers our seniors a loving, safe, clean, and respectful homes. Our staff fosters wellness, independence, dignity, and quality of life for each resident. My goal is to keep growing and adding more homes to Premiere Cottages because I know that our seniors definitely get what they deserve at our homes.

Elsa Roman – Certified Administrator

Elsa Roman

My fascination of the medical field began when I was a junior in high school. I took a Red Cross first responder course and completely fell in love. From that point on, I knew that I wanted to be a nurse. I began volunteering at Shriners Hospital and at local nursing homes. Fast forward to a few years later, I began my journey to becoming a Registered Nurse and registered for a Certified Nursing Assistant course. I absolutely loved learning about all of the different needs that our elderly population require. I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for a while and very much enjoyed building new relationships and listening to the fascinating stories that my residents cherished.

I started my position as an administrative Assistant with Premiere Cottages in January of 2016 and received my Administrator Certification in May of 2016. My job is to make the transition phase of moving into a residential care facility as easy as I possibly can for our residents and their loved ones. I have created many relationships and have met many amazing people and I look forward to creating many more. At Premiere Cottages our top priority is the wellbeing of our residents, whether it be physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

I firmly believe that is the reason why we stand out and have been so successful helping many families along the way. As I continue my journey in the medical field and with Premiere Cottages, my wish is that I will be able to make as big of an impact in the lives of others as ALL of our residents and their families have made on mine.
